Mrs. Fred Raymond who would have reached the age of 95 years on June 27, had she lived, went into a coma Friday evening at six o'clock and passed away at one o'clock Sunday morning without having regained consciousness. Amanda Jane Camery was born in Huntington county, West Virginia, June 27, 1845, one of 12 children of Christian (a soldier in the War of 1812) and Nancy Messick Camery. When she was very young, her family moved to Gambier, Ohio, in covered wagons, and later came to Illinois. In 1886, she was united in marriage with Fred Raymond, a farmer of this locality. She lived with her husband in Henry until Aug. 8, 1933, when Mr. Raymond, the oldest resident in Henry and one of the oldest in Marshall and Putnam Counties, died at the age of ninety-one. In late years, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hubbell cared for the aged woman, and after Mrs. Hubbell's death, Miss Maelta Kincaid assisted her step-father in taking charge of the home. Mrs. Raymond enjoyed excellent health considering her age, aside from several slight strokes which she had suffered recently. She had been blind for the past five years, able only to distinguish between light and darkness. Surviving relatives are her nieces Miss Nellie Camery, who teaches in Chicago, Mrs. John Morse of Putnam, Mrs. Vera German of Hearne, Texas; a great niece, Miss May Ebaugh, and two nephews, Harry Camery of Los Angeles, Calif., and Harvey Camery of Kewanee, Ill. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, with the Rev. W. T. Ward officiating. Mrs. C. O. Pogemiller and Mrs. Gordon Downey, accompanied by Mrs. Charles Bourdette, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Pallbearers included Ben Ballup, T. Floyd Monier, Charles Beardsley, Roy Bracken, Theodore Kaifer and Enos Odell. Interment was in the family lot in the Henry City Cemetery beside her late husband with A. C. Lindbloom in charge of arrangements.
